The
first idea that came to mind at seeing one of Guetty Lesperance's
sculptures was UNIQUE. From Guetty's hands, richly painted
woods, copper, ceramics, strings, nails and dyes are skillfully
interwoven to create very expressive and thought provoking
art pieces.
The
bulk of the artist's production consist of sculpted paintings
and of 3-dimensional sculptures. In the sculpted painting
at left for example, a ceramic sculpture of a finger of sorts
is meshed with a hardboard backing and embellished with wood
pieces. The 3-D sculpture on the right on the other hand combines
a wooden base with a clay sculpture painted for effect.
Guetty Lesperance's source of
inspiration is also unique. While admitting not knowing what
inspires him to do those peculiar sculptures, he added "I
work under the influence of what my subconcious reveals ".
Indeed, many of his works have a dreamy, almost mystical appearnce
that adds tremendously to their appeal. Guetty has great hopes
for his art which he describes as "being at the very
essence of his existence". He hopes to further his craft
through work and through studies abroad. For now, he focuses
on creating great works capable on generating interst from
the public.
I invite you to admire the unique works of this uniquely
gifted and inspired artist in the 3
galleries that follow.
